Celebration walk 誕生祝いの散歩

On my sister’s birthday, I took my friend’s advice. “ Do not forget to take a nice walk” my friend had said. So, I spontaneously walked out of my room, with a camera in my hand.

It was just  a casual walk to “the teahouse”. But. I wanted to share what I found with you, Toshi-chan!

(And today… is my father’s birthday! Happy birthday, dear Dad!)

妹の誕生日、“たまには散歩に行くのを忘れないようにね！”という友人のアドバイスにしたがって、カメラ片手に気の向くままぶらっと出かけた。

近所にあるカフェに行っただけだけど、その道々に見たものを分ち合いたいと思います。敏ちゃん、そしてお父さんお誕生日おめでとう！

Looks greener compared to January

1月にくらべてかなり緑が濃くなってきた

Chaco Canyon チャコキャニオン

 Chaco Canyon is  a sacred place located in Northwestern New Mexico. It is said that it was a major cultural hub for Pueblo People.  Many clans trace a direct relationship to Chaco.

チャコキャニオンは、米国ニューメキシコ州北西部にある、聖地とよばれるところだ。プエブロインディアンが集まって催しごとをしたといわれる。多くの種族がこの地に関わりがあるらしい。

The construction took over 400 years, there are ruins you can still see. The scale of this area is enormous – I could not even begin to visit the site within a day, by car and on foot. It is truly mind-blowing to imagine how it was constructed, and how people traveled to visit this site, on foot. 

建設に４００年以上を費やし今でもその遺跡を見ることができる。そのスケールははかりしれない。車と徒歩、一日がかりでも全てを見る事は不可能に思われた。いったいどうやって造り上げられたのか、また、車のない時代にどうやって徒歩でここを訪れたのか、想像に絶する。

 Some researchers had found out a very interesting fact: All structures are lined up according to the trajectory of the sun. And there are special marks that appear on Summer and Winter solstice.  People who constructed and used this site had disappeared by the 13^th century. And there is not much left to tell what really had happened.

一部研究者によると、すべての建物が太陽の移動する軌道線に沿って建てられているらしい。また、夏至と冬至の日には太陽光線が綿密に計画された岩の隙間を通してマーキングがあらわれることがわかっている。１３世紀までには、ここを使っていた人々は姿を消したが、いったい何がおこったのかは未だに謎である。

Visiting a site like this makes me think that what I know as world history is merely a reflection of some people’s points of view. 

このような謎の遺跡に出会うと、自分が“知っている”と思っている世界の歴史は実はあまりあてにならないものだということに気がつかされる。
